My Motivations

Previously I talked about Joe Dallas’s idea of a Motivation Review Journal. In this journal, which really could just be the first couple of pages of any journal, an addict is to write in it reasons why he/she wants to break free from their addiction with the idea that no one reason is ever good enough (even though it may be or could be or should be). Below are my motivations.

  1. I want intimacy with God.
  2. I want to become the sort of man I can honestly respect.
  3. I’m tired of lying, hiding, and covering up.
  4. I want peace of mind.
  5. I don’t want to be part of the problem(s).
  6. I want to restore my confidence.
  7. God wants it for my benefit.
  8. God demands it. I want to obey.
  9. I want to be successful as a husband.
  10. I want to be successful as a father.
  11. I want to be successful as a friend.
  12. I want my son(s) to be free from the generational issues that accompany sexual sin.
  13. I want my wife to trust me.
  14. I want to be able to help others.
  15. I don’t want to ruin my future.
  16. I don’t want to ruin my present.
  17. I want to be a man of God.
  18. I want to be a man of my word.
  19. I want to be a man of the Word.
  20. I want to please my wife.
  21. I want to be able to lead others.
  22. I want to be able to lead my family and my wife.
  23. I want to be qualified to do ministry and to teach the Bible without hypocrisy.
  24. I want to regain my joy and laughter.
  25. I don’t want to be mad or angry all the time.I want to effectively love my family.
  26. I don’t want to disappoint my friends and family.
  27. I want to please God (“Well done good and faithful servant”).
  28. I want to regain potency in ministry.
  29. I want to have good, healthy relationships with others.
  30. I want to HATE sin.
  31. I desire to do God’s will.
  32. I want to be able to overcome.
  33. I want to tell my testimony of God’s victory in my.
  34. I don’t want to be a puppet of Satan.
  35. I want to make Satan more angry by not doing what he wants me to do.
