One of the gravest things about online accountability is the inability for “all” known softwares to track cell phone use. What do I mean by cell phone use. (1) Actual numbers called and who they are using general 411 knowledge; and (2) Tracking software to report cell phone internet usage.
I know several men that struggle with 1-800 phone places, and they really have no way for real accountability. However, if a software company like Covenant Eyes (CE), though CE’s general purpose is online (and should not be held accountable to this idea/ability), could team up with phone companies to offer this service along with their monthly bill. This would be a fantastic service that could further help men in their effort to “sobriety.”
Second is phone internet filtering (or can we call it fone filtering) and tracking. I know that CE does not offer this service, and I am not sure how much of a priority it is for them. While I know that they will not filter, they don’t offer a solution that reports where the user has been. Microsoft IE for Mobile, Blazer, S60 Web Browser, Blackberry Browser, Skyfire, Opera Mini, Bitstream’s Thunderhawk, Google Android, Safari, and Mozilla’s Minimo all have internet history and use cookies. So how can CE not develop an app through C# for their clients/customers? Why not produce something, even if there are issues? The few times that I have called over the past year, I have heard a range of answers from “No, we are not pursuing that at this time;” to “I’m not sure if we can do that;” to “Yes, we will be developing something some time in the future” (though when I inquired about further details, he didn’t know anything).
What do you think? How important is it that CE develop something for mobile phones? If I were not as busy as I am, I would learn C# and do it myself, but as it stands, I cannot.
